Drilling Machines: The Filepecker III Electric Paper Drill
The Filepecker III Electric Paper Drill is imported from Europe and is designed for tabletop use. It is aimed at low/mid volume operations such as copyshops or on-demand printers and finishers where rapid turnaround is required.
There are three models available (capable of drilling paper thicknesses from 62mm to 140mm). The Filepecker III 100 model will easily drill through up to 1,000 sheets of paper in seconds. This is about the maximum any on-demand operation would want to handle at a time, although the 140 model (which will accommodate 1,400 sheets) is also available if required. The drill is extremely quiet in operation, and features a unique safety interlocking system, which means that there is no need for a guard as is usually found in these products.
Weighing in at approx 32 Kg, The Filepecker is a substantial and sturdy drill manufactured to the very highest materials and engineering standards. It features an integral paper clamp bar with a simple and secure “quick release” action and a “chuckless” drill bit to motor shaft construction which eliminates even the slightest vibration for smoother operation and longer drill life.
The Filepecker range cuts through up to 1,400 sheets like butter, thanks to an ingenious hollow drill bit design. Ordinarily, with drill bits of uniform diameter, the tip of the drill has to bore through the fresh sheets of paper, but the rest of the shaft is also working hard to overcome friction and pass through the already drilled sheets.
The Filepecker III features a unique drill bit which is chamfered externally. This means that only the “business end” is doing the work, while the slightly narrower shaft passes through the already bored sheets effortlessly. The chamfer is reversed internally (wider than the paper chips) in the hollow drill, so the same lack of friction and effort applies.
The result is a smooth and incredibly quick operation. The Filepecker III is supplied with a full tool kit, including drill bits, sharpener and an easy-to-adjust variable position bar. A number of optional accessories are also available, including drill bits from 3 mm to 9 mm diameter and a simple to install programmed bar with five pre-programmed hole patterns (Centred, 80 mm pitch x 3 holes, 80 mm pitch x 4 holes, 45 – 65 – 45 mm pitch x 4 holes and 9.5 mm pitch x 30 holes).
